Although the leaves have not changed colors yet, the crisp Autumn air feels great in New Jersey. This week I made a birthday cake for a bride that is getting married the day after her birthday. What a great anniversary to have. I hope her husband does not combine gifts 🙂 I bet he will never forget his anniversary.
This two tier birthday cake is chocolate cake with White Chocolate Buttercream. The cake is decorated with brown fondant bands on each tier. The flowers are made with Gumpaste and consist of Sunflowers, Mums and Violets. This cake is a buttercream cake. It has not been covered in fondant.
This cake was so much fun to make because I absolutely love making gumpaste flowers. The sunflowers were very time consuming to make because each petal had to be made individually. The mums were a challenge in itself because I had never made them before. All in all the cake was an absolute success.
